Hope is...Stand in the Gap

February’s 8 Hope Highlights

By February 22, 2023February 23rd, 2023No Comments

In an increasingly unstable world,

hope is still the most important thing.

This month, we are sharing some of our “hope highlights” from the last 4 weeks.
May these short stories bring you hope.

True Freedom!

Michelle and Shaunte are back at Eddie Warrior Correctional facility. This time, they are volunteers.
Shaunte has been facilitating our Women in Transition class there for a while, but this was Michelle's first time back. Shaunte says, "9 years ago, Michelle left EWCC. Today, she only looks back to share how she is about to graduate with her Master's, she has meaningful work, and she is an excellent mother to her son. She is intentional in her praise to God and has maintained relationships with all her Stand in the Gap mentors. Her story is crazy amazing."
What a joy it is to celebrate true freedom with these women who have turned to God and overcome so much!

Reaching Rochester

Did you know that we partner with The Hub585 to offer our Life Launch program in New York? So far, they have matched 17 young people with Life Launch mentors. One of them is “Xander”. He regularly asks his guardian “When can I see my mentors again?” despite knowing that the next outing is just around the corner. Xander enjoys getting bottomless fries with his mentors, and talking about music of all genres from over the years, as well as fantasy football. Xander’s mentors have been a great sounding board for Xander’s guardian, supporting her and Xander during times of relational conflict in the home.
We know how you feel, Xander. This partnership has been one of the highlights of the last year for us!

What Kim Learned...

At what point in your life did you start to see yourself as a person of worth? For many of the women we serve in Women in Transition, that moment comes way too late. But it is our privilege to be there when they start to believe it.
Kim took our Women in Transition class at Women's Firstep. She graduated the class, but keeps coming back. Click her photo to watch and find out why...

New Beginnings

We formed several new Women in Transition small groups this month. Destiny already feels like her team will be like her family because she has no one else in Oklahoma City. Join us in praying for new and existing small groups!

Graduate Givebacks

One of our favorite things happened this month. And it happened twice! Last month we told you about Bobby’s graduation. This month, Bobby rejoined her small group, but this time as a volunteer. Laura is another graduate whose second team launches this week. When a graduate rejoins a team, everyone benefits from her empathy, perspective, and hope. Bobby and Laura, thank you for volunteering!
