Hope is...Stand in the Gap

January’s 4 Hope Highlights

By January 25, 2023January 30th, 2023No Comments

In an increasingly unstable world,

hope is still the most important thing.

This month, we are sharing some of our “hope highlights” from the last 4 weeks.
May these short stories bring you hope.

Bobby's Big Year

Our Tulsa-area Women in Transition team celebrated Bobby's small group this month in Pryor! Bobby attends Southeast Baptist Church, which has become an awesome and active partner for our Women in Transition program. Shaunte Gordon, Program Manager, says, "Bobby has overcome so much. She had an unjust sentence due to poverty mainly. She is getting past all that, works full time, owns her home and her vehicle, and has a remarkably giving heart! Bobby has been with her Stand in the Gap small group since her release about a year ago. They have become close friends, almost inseparable!" After her small group graduates, they plan to stay together and mentor another woman coming from incarceration, this time with Bobby as a volunteer. We look forward to what God will continue to do in Pryor!

Some Time Together

The Stand in the Gap staff kicked off 2023 with some time to rest, reflect, bond, and plan at our staff retreat. We spent the first day at a beautiful AirBNB in Arcadia with our new friend Kenny the Clydesdale. On day two, we learned about ourselves with the impactful Your One Degree. We are grateful for this time to be all together in the same rooms. Team Stand in the Gap is feeling energized, unified, and ready for 2023!

Graduating Small Groups

Our Women in Transition team celebrated two team graduations with Jubilee Christian Center in Okmulgee. Rhonda Bear, Program Director, says “God is changing lives and breaking generational curses. One of the neighbors did 15 years isolated emotionally at Mabel Bassett, but Stand in the Gap is helping those walls come down and she’s learning to recognize and accept love.” This is just the beginning of the beautiful stories to come from the passionate actions of the Jubilee Christian Center.

Growing in Georgia

Stand in the Gap for Widows is expanding to Rock Bridge Community Church in Dalton, Georgia! Our newest partner is the second church offering our program in Georgia. Did you know we partner with churches to offer this ministry all over the country? Click to see where Stand in the Gap for Widows is making widows feel seen, loved, and supported. This was a month full of answered prayers and potential for Stand in the Gap for Widows (more to come!).
