Event Recap: Fundraising Dinner

By July 10, 2021July 28th, 2021No Comments

Last month Stand in the Gap Ministries hosted our first in-person event in over one year. It was so nice having a group of SITGM supporters together to fundraise for our great services and clients!

Stand in the Gap Executive Director Francois Cardinal welcomed everyone and spoke about the generational change and impact that SITGM has on the lives of the people we serve.

This is what makes SITGM distinct from other organizations: we focus on relational connections that bring about wholistic life change for modern day orphans through our Life Launch program, those in incarceration through our Women In Transition program, and widows served through Stand in the Gap for Widows.

Stand in the Gap Women in Transition Program Director Rhonda Bear spoke about the state of female incarceration in Oklahoma. She shared the ways our Woman in Transition program is creating a significant impact through our class inside prisons and our small group support outside of prisons as women in our program integrate back into society.

Rhonda also shared that Stand in the Gap Ministries has a 3% recidivism rate for all woman that graduate our Women in Transition program in a healthy manner. Recidivism is when someone is reincarcerated. This is a significant rate when compared to the national recidivism rate of approximately 70% within 3 years!

Life Launch Graduate Ali (middle) shared her latest accomplishments with the group. Since graduating from Stand in the Gap’s Life Launch program three years ago, Ali has met and married her husband and recently welcomed a baby girl.
