The Unexpected Perks of Partnership

By October 12, 2020No Comments

Stand in the Gap is based on the foundational belief that it is through relationships with God and with other people that we find healing, growth, and the fullness of life.

We believe that is true for the people we serve, for the volunteers who serve with us, and for our staff as well. But did you know that we believe the same is true for our organization as a whole?

There are things we do really well at Stand in the Gap. We form small group “family” relationships that can have a lifelong impact. We provide education and hope to women before they are released from prison or jail. We advocate on behalf of mothers and their children.

But there are necessary things that we do not and can not provide for the people we serve. So we’ve formed relationships to fill those gaps.

Our partner organizations are the best at what they do. Instead of “recreating the wheel” and trying to offer these services as well, why not join forces to the exponential benefit of the people we serve?!

Our partnerships mean that the orphans, widows, and prisoners we serve have access to a fuller continuum of care, which means more opportunities, more resources, and more hope.

We’ve highlighted Branch 15 and She Brews on our blog in the past. Today we are celebrating one of our longest standing (and continually growing) partnerships with Life.Church!

When Life.Church does something, they go all out. Their passion (blended with action) has blessed Stand in the Gap countless times over the years.

We have official mission partnerships with several Life.Church campuses. This means that they promote Stand in the Gap as a volunteer opportunity for their church members. Thanks to Life.Church, we’ve been connected with hundreds of volunteers over the years who have served thousands of hours in Stand in the Gap small groups.

As if that wasn’t enough, they’ve also been financial contributors to Stand in the Gap, providing generously through multiple grants and gifts over the years.

Last month, a team from the South Broken Arrow campus showed up at our all staff meeting to BLESS us with a totally unexpected check for $30,000! Check out the video of their “why” and our surprise below.

Moments like this are not why we partner with Life.Church, but they are so good at blessing us that we couldn’t let this generous gesture go by un-blogged about! Partnerships are an acknowledgment that we can’t do life alone. It’s just as true for the ministry of Stand in the Gap as it is for individual people. Life.Church has given us so much to be grateful for! It’s awesome to be on this journey with them!
